Can I erase a reference name and reuse the reference name for another range?

Can I erase a reference name and reuse the reference name for another range?  It looks like once I use a reference name and mark the range, I can't erase the name and reuse the reference name for another range? it will indicate the name already use on this sheet even I deleted this reference name?

Is there a search function to search for where a "reference name" is used within a sheet?

You would have to delete that reference entirely from the sheet and then it may take a day or so before it is useable.

You could always reuse the reference even though it is the wrong range and then just edit the reference to update the range instead of waiting.

You can click inside of the reference and choose to "Edit Reference" which will allow you to keep the name but update the range.
