Workapps Q

Besides for making things easier to access and creating a portal experience for users, is the most special part of workapps the fact that it allows users to edit sheets without being shared to a sheet?

And would this make Dynamic View irrelevant?

  • Hi @SYSPK

WorkApps does create a portal experience, and one that isn't limited to Smartsheet items only. You can include apps like Tableau and Google docs as well, and users can edit these items directly from within that one location. You can learn more about WorkApps from our website, here: WorkApps.

And yes, one of the functions WorkApps offers is being able to edit cell content in a Report due to the user's WorkApp permissions, without needing to be shared to the underlying sheet. (See: Page Permission Reference.) The functionality in WorkApps is different to Dynamic View though, as in Dynamic View you can create new rows from within the View and edit specific fields from the details panel (see: Dynamic View).

You may want to sign up for the upcoming Webinar on WorkApps on February 11th, here: Unify Your Smartsheet Solution and Drive Participation with WorkApps.

If you'd like to continue the discussion on best practices in WorkApps, I'd suggest posting in the specific Community Group for WorkApps, here.

    Cheers!
