Has anyone documented browser differences for Sights?
We are going to create an overview of the browser differences between Chrome/IE within Sites? The browsers act very differently.

Hi Andrea,
The main known browser difference for SIghts pertains to Print. Chrome has the best Print support and properly handles scaling of the Sight to fit on any selected paper size & orientation, on a single page.
The other browsers don't have the same "dynamic" scaling support, so they scale the printed Sight to fit on a Letter or A4 page. The printed Sight will only work in a single orientation (landscape or portrait, whichever best matches your widget layout), so if your widgets look cropped, you'll need to swich to the other orientation.
Apart from Print, Sights should work identically across browsers. Are you seeing other differences? If so, please let us know, and we'll take a look.
Best regards,
Daniel Stein

I also have noticed on sights the ability to download and use excel varies. We are creating collaboration areas and having challenges with loading attachments and then the users being able to download and modify excel and word documents.

Yes, we setup a collaboration site for a project and used an attachment widget with an excel file from OneDrive. We want a team member to open the excel file, be able to download the file and update it. We haven't had print issue, but the ability to edit is where we encountered issues.

Hi Andrea,
Could you please clarify how exactly you are trying to use the Excel files on Sights? Are you trying to upload the files to your Sights (similar to uploading files to sheet rows from your computer)? Or are you looking to link Excel files that are already uploaded to cloud storage like Google Drive?
Sights do not currently support uploading files directly (as you can on sheet rows). You can only link files that live in cloud storage.
Best regards,
Daniel

Hi Andrea,
What specific errors/issues is your team seeing? Also, what is your team using the Excel files to do?
Desktop Excel does not support team collaboration on its files; if anyone downloads an Excel file, it will "lock" everyone else out of the file.
You may consider whether you can port the spreadsheet content into Smartsheet as sheets, and link to the sheets from your Sight instead of to the Excel files. This will allow everyone to collaborate on them.
Thanks,
Daniel
