Send & link a row to another sheet
I'm wondering if there is a way to send a row to another sheet and link some of the data, but do it in a simple way rather than manually linking.
Background - We manage our projects using the Gantt view which works well for the project team. Some of the tasks then go to a shared creative team who use card view to run sprints.
It would be great to select one of those rows from the project gantt chart and send it to the creative teams' card view sheet while keeping the title and linking the start & end date.
We can currently send a card to another sheet and then manually link the start & end date but this obviously takes time.

Is there a way to have a project sheet, a sprint sheet and a reference sheet?
And then send a row from the project sheet to the reference sheet, and then have the sprint sheet pull data from the reference sheet & project sheet as needed (using lookups and index/match)?

Hmmm an interesting line of thought. We use zapier so I'm wondering if there is a way I can trigger the card to be created by zapier, like a send to creative column. If can then use the data from that row to write a formula to do the lookup.

Another option might be to have a form that creates a record in the sprint sheet, where fields in the form are prepopulated by amending the URL of the sprint form. I have used this a few times and works well although can be unwieldy if you are passing a lot of information on.
The sprint form ULR "lives" in the project sheet and is populated by referencing cells in the row

Hi Lee,
I hope you're well and safe!
To add to Neil's excellent advice/answer.
As long as you have something unique to connect the rows, it could be done with cross-sheet formulas (VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH) combined with the Column Formula feature.
Also, Zapier could create the row/card automatically in combination with the above method.
What do you think?
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!

Hi Andree & Neil, yes I think that will work nicely. Now I just need an easy trigger which could be as simple as a check box :)
