Keeping =TODAY() up to date even when the sheet is closed

Does anyone know if there's a way to get =TODAY() to automatically update without having to open the sheet it's on?

I have sheet summary formulas that update dashboard content, and these formulas are dependent on =TODAY() being correct and currently I'm having to open the source sheet every morning to get =TODAY() to update!

You can also do this without the helper column.

Create an automation to lock and then unlock a column (any column on your sheet) that runs at, say 2:00 AM.

The triggering of the automation makes the TODAY() function update.

It has worked for me.

I have one intake sheet - call it a master sheet - for my entire Control Center run solution.

On that intake sheet is a column called "Today" that locks and unlocks once a day.

Every single project, sheet, or anything else that needs a date pulls the "Today" value from the intake sheet. The intake sheet is my master clock so to speak.
