Creating specific onboarding checklists based on the project

I am new to Smartsheet and am wondering whether or not I can create specific checklists based on the type of project that can easily be incorporated into an overall tracker. Any suggestions or reference videos would be helpful.

One way would be to have different templatized structures with the different onboarding checklists included.

Yes what you are saying does make sense. I found a Recurring Task List that I will modify. Would I create a separate list for each task? Can I link them to a task drop-down list or do they need to start out separately and then linked to the overall project checklist?

It depends. You could have everything in one sheet with different sections or one sheet per list.
