Hiding Rows
Kinda new to this program and confounded on how to hide rows! I am stunned this program, in 2017, doesn't have an easy solution to this common feature of other spreadsheets.

I don't see a method to hide rows, but you could indent the row you want to hide and then you could click the minus sign and twirl up the row, essentially hiding it.
This article defines the process. https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/504734-hierarchy-indenting-outdenting-rows

Depogrl,
It looks like a spreadsheet, but isn't.
You can not hide rows directly like you can columns.
In addition to hierarchy that Mike mentioned, you can also take a look at filtering:

Good suggestion Craig. You can also share these filters with others so that other people can see what you see. Do be aware that filters only effect your view. So if you're trying to hide rows so others don't see them, then you will need to create a shared filter and advise them to turn it on.

Good points Mike
Neither of the possible solutions will prevent a user from seeing the rows - unfiltering or expanding the hierarchy. Even locking certain rows does not help.

Thanks! Going to try these suggestions. Much appreciated.

I agree with Depogrl. Smartsheet needs to have some sort of way to filter out confidential rows so that certain people I share the sheet with will never see the full, unfiltered sheet, but still otherwise have access to all other functionality in the sheet (namely editing). If they are going to continue putting "smart" in the product's name, they'll need to address security issues like these.
