Conditional formatting to specific cells only

Is there a way I can apply conditional formatting to only specific calls rather than an entire row or column? In excel I have an area which is red if a job isn't making a profit and green if it is. I want to keep the white bits white though!

Hi @Kirstine
I hope you're well and safe!
Yes, you can select which columns it should show in the Conditional Formatting rule, but you might need to add so-called helper columns to make it work.
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Hi @Andrée Starå! I'm good thanks, hope you are too.
I've done something like you're suggesting already but I can still only control 'blocks' rather than cells.

On the flip side of this, is there a way to highlight a number of columns and use the same Conditional Format Rule? I know Excel does this as @Kirstine has shown in her screengrab.
Rather than set up individual rules which essentially repeat themselves for each column, I'd like to have a uniform rule across my sheet to highlight a particular key-word. My sheet for example has 130 columns. I'm not keen on setting up 130 rules.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to look for a key-word, but it's an excellent idea!
