How to set up move row automation with formulas

I currently have a formula in place to "star" a row on sheet A when a unique identifier # from sheet A is added to sheet B. Then, I would like to move the row from sheet A to sheet C after the "star" is highlighted.

I read the statement below in the smartsheet Automation article:

"Actions that will automatically modify the sheet cannot be triggered by inbound cell-links or cross-sheet formulas."

Any way to work around this or use a specific formula?

Thank you!

    Hi @Valerie Javurek

I hope you're well and safe!

One idea could be to copy the row that gets starred to the other sheet and then have a so-called helper column to check for duplicates, and then that would trigger the move row workflow.

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe and have a fantastic week!

  • Hi @Bassam.M Khalil & @Andrée Starå,

    Thank you for your responses!

This is Sheet A. When a new form entry is implemented into the sheet, the SSPID# is generated.

Anytime a project becomes Inflight, a new form submission is entered into Sheet B below. The SSPID # is entered into the form and the status default value is "PO Received."

We have a formula/vlookup in place that whenever the status in Sheet B is "PO received" it will star the inflight column on Sheet A.

The below automation is in place, however, whenever the inflight column becomes starred, the row does not move.

I found an article that talks about trigger blocks and this is what was stated at the bottom:

Is there a way I can successfully run this process with a workaround?

    Thank you for your help!

I appreciate both of your responses! Below is a breakdown of the process I am trying to put in place but can't seem to find a workaround.
