Why can't I update Target date in card view?

Is there a way for me to edit the Target date while staying in card view? The only ways I've been able to adjust the Target date on a card is either switching to another view, or updating the Duration. Both of these alternatives are less than ideal, as they require more time and effort than simply updating my new Target date. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Since the target date is automatically calculated by the dependency settings, it is unable to be edited this way. The same is true in reports and update requests as well. Anything being calculated by dependencies or formulas have to be edited in the sheet view.

@Paul Newcome Thanks for the info! I guess what's confusing to me is that this card has no dependencies, but maybe I'm thinking about dependencies in the wrong way?

While that particular card may not have dependencies, the dependencies are referencing a column on that card. The dependencies run at the column level, so every cell in that column is affected.
