Hierarchy:Hierarchy Formula
This formula was present in a template built for us and is in the Summary section of a Project Plan, but it is not tallying up the total counts of the different Statuses. I was able to correct this with a different formula, (=COUNTIFS(Status:Status, "Not Started")) but I was asked what the pre-built formula was meant to do. Any ideas?
Thanks.

There are actually a couple of different ways to get this count, but what matters is that you have something that works.

It looks like there is a column called "Hierarchy" that denotes what level each row is on. The formula is only pulling rows where the Hierarchy column equals 3, 4, 5, or 6. This will exclude from the count any rows where the number in the Hierarchy column is 1 or 2.

Paul- Thank you very much for this insight! I was able to understand (and decipher) why the formula was setup that way and add one more COUNTIFS into the formula with the 2 and it worked on pulling what we wanted. Very helpful.
