Report Summary - New function isn't working
According to this https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2482083-summarize-content-to-extract-key-information-with-report-builder I should be able to summarize my report based on ANY field. I am trying to summarize how many tasks an individual person has been assigned to. The help document says that a contact field should be able to be used for summary purposes, but the field isn't showing up as an option either for summary or grouping. Any suggestions?😕

Is it single-entry?

I think @James Keuning was referring to the Assigned To column.
Currently Reports can only group by single-select columns, so your Assigned To would need to be a single select type of Contact list (without multiple contacts in one cell). Is that potentially the issue?

@Genevieve P I want to review the row details AND have the summary. So we will have to wait for that function to be updated, OR remove multiple assignments for individual people

do you mean is each task a unique task? If that is what you mean then yet. The tasks are unique - they are actually organizations that people are assigned to outreach, and we need to be able to quickly asses how many orgs are assigned to each person

AHA!!!! YES @Genevieve P thank you so much. i will need to adjust that then. Is that also true of the grouping process as well?

No problem! Yes, Grouping and Summary is currently only available for single-select columns.
What is it you're looking to do? Instead of a Report, we could build out a Metric sheet to use formulas and calculate different numbers. For example, you can look into a Multi-Select column and see if it HAS a specific value, and COUNT how many rows match that criteria. Would this be better for your purposes, or are you wanting to review the row details as well as have the Summary?
