Linking Children to Parents

I need to use SmartSheet as a data collection tool.

The user will have a sheet with Company information including a unique Company ID. I need a way for them to enter Contacts tied to the Companies by the Company ID

I thought about using Forms but, I'm not sure how to pass the Company ID to the Contact Record

I also thought about using DynamicView but same issue, I'm not sure how to pass the Company ID to the Contact record

Maybe using Ancestor with a formula to bring down the Company ID for children?

I'm fresh out of ideas and looking for suggestions

Are you able to provide a screenshot that has manually entered data as an example of what you are wanting to accomplish?

So are they entering contact info, and you automatically want to pull company info from that, or are you wanting to do the opposite where they enter company info and it automatically pulls in contact info?

They are entering Contact information and I need to pull Company info

You would need to have some type of data that is unique to each company such as an address or company name that they would enter.

The only way tot pull the company info from the contact info would be to have a table built out with each contact in one column and the company info in another, but if you already had that table built out, then you wouldn't have to get your users to enter the contact info.

Is there an automation I can use to push the Account ID from the Company Sheet to a new record in the Contact sheet?

If the new record contains the Company Name or some unique data point (or series of data points that can create a unique string) to that particular ID, then a formula can be used. Either INDEX/MATCH or VLOOKUP.
