RYG Balls in IF(AND Formula

I am trying to automate the RYG balls to reflect a result based on up to two columns. All of the possibilities are:

Green: [Expiration Date]97 is in the future or equal to TODAY

Yellow: [Expiration Date]97 is within 30 days of TODAY

Red: [Expiration Date]97 has already passed and [Renew] = "No"

Related question: is it possible to use symbols in workflows, rather than create a formula? Maybe it's my Smartsheet plan level, but the column for my RYG balls is not an option when I create a workflow that changes a cell value.

Hi Marinda,

There's no straightforward way to do this. You could, however, use a dropdown column which can be updated using the new change cell automation - https://www.smartsheet.com/content-center/product-news/release-notes/new-automated-action-change-cell

You can then make the symbol column equal to the dropdown.

There is a catch though. The change cell automation will be triggered by a date change.
