Sorting and Filtering

Hello,

I have users who are wanting to sort their filtered view without impacting the data structure. I've seen in a couple threads now that the workaround is to build a report, but non-licensed users are not able to filter and sort within the report I made - so there's really no point to the report now. Does anyone have solution to this?

Unfortunately, I don't think there is another way, or at least not a good way.

One possible workaround would be to have a so-called helper column with the original order so you can always get back to it.

Thanks Andree. I certainly hope Smartsheet will allow collaborators to filter and sort reports like before.

SSFeatures

Hi @yheng, I recently built a browser extension named SSFeatures that allows you to sort even when you have filters enabled. This will work for your collaborators as well.

When you have the extension, you'll notice that you can click the "Sort" button even when filters are applied to your sheet.

However, this will affect the structure of the sheet, since it performs a real sort on the data.

As long as the collaborator doesn't save the sheet, then it should solve the problem for you!
