Can I link continuously changing data from one spreadsheet into another?

I am creating a dashboard from a spreadsheet that is continually being updated with new data. However, I would like to make my own copy in order to add a few columns for preference and not accidentally edit the master sheet. Is there any way that I can link the master spreadsheet to my new copy and when new data is input into the master it also updates in my copy?

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
