creating images for top of dashboard page

Are there any specific specs , tips and tricks to create the correct size images as a top image on a dashboard page?

Do you mean like the banner at the top of this Dashboard that says "Project Schedule Management"?

If so, the dimensions I use to get a banner like this are 2401 × 481 px.
