How to have one common field which can then update related information

I am stuck and need help. I have three sheets 1) Equipment and shipping information of a consultant 2) His onboarding information, dates etc. 3) Consultant onboarding pipeline for management. How do I link the employee name or employee ID in all various sheets so it can get updated itself. TIA.

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

Andree thanks for the help. I am new to smartsheet so basically insert the formulas in the column and reference the other smart sheet here. Just trying to do it now. Thanks.

You would need to have something that is unique to connect the sheets.

Something like this.

=INDEX({ColumnWithTheValueYouWantToShow}; MATCH(CellThatHaveTheValueToMatch@row;

{ColumnWithTheValueToMatchAgainsTheCell}; 0))

Depending on your country/region, you'll need to exchange the comma to a period and the semi-colon to a comma.
