Search capability for Report Viewer

Hi everyone,

We have a Smartsheet that acts as a database with over a thousand rows. Specific data from that Smartsheet feeds into a report. We want non-shared people to be able to search for a specific title or titles on that report (or the original database) using keywords and resulting in content from only a handful of columns. We then would like to place that Search Engine on a dashboard to which those non-shared people have access.

Is it possible to create this type of Search Engine? If so, how?

    Hope you are fine, you can create a summary sheet and design your search engine by using functions like Index with Collect using the search criteria.

    Three options come to mind.

    • Show a cell from a sheet where you add the search value, save and then refresh the dashboard.
    • Use a form and add the search value, submit and refresh the dashboard.
    • Premium add-on, Dynamic View.

    What do you mean by summary sheet? How is that different from a regular Smartsheet or report?

    I like the possibilities of your first 2 options. The third is not possible as this is not a high-priority issue and my company will not throw money at it. :-( How would I implement these options?

    Please note that I cannot make any changes to the source Smartsheet except the possibility of adding a few columns. It has nearly 800 rows which is why we created the report for viewing - so no one accidentally makes a change. Think of it as a database where only a few people add and make changes and everyone else just views it as a resource.
