Inserting A Single Checkbox In Smartsheet

Hi,

I am attempting to create a column where there are only checkboxes in certain cells:

I only want the checkboxes that are circled in red; the rest of the rows need to be blank. Is there a way to do this besides double-clicking a checkbox I don't want, putting in a character field, and setting the text background to white? This column is connected to other fields via conditional formatting, so that workaround won't work.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not possible now without the workarounds described, but it's an excellent idea!
