Is there a work around to access the search tool for PDF attachments on tablets? I noticed that there was no option to search an attached PDF file for a specific text/number.

Are you looking to search for the name of a PDF, or do you want to search the contents of the PDF?While it's possible to search for attachment titles and descriptions, you will not be able to search the contents of file attachments. (See: Search Tips to Find Your Smartsheet Items)
