Hierarchy

Hello,

If I wanted to know how many employees will arrive on the next date (8/23), how do I pull that info with the indentation? The hierarchy seems to be the best way but I cannot get it to work. Any other ideas? Below is what I tried.

This is what I have so far based off of what I've found, but it is coming back as unparseable (-4 is because it is 4 days before the next date, but will be removed once live)

=COUNTIF(CHILDREN(Today(-4)){New Hires PHX3 Range 2},"Complete")

*ignore the misspelling, this is just a sample of what the sheet I'm working with looks like
