Formula to create visual indication of a cell link in a row

Hi all, I would like to display a symbol in a column of a row IF a specific cell in that row is being used as a cell link to another sheet. I know that a small black triangle appears in the bottom right corner of the cell if it is linking to another sheet, but I would prefer a much larger visual indicator if that is possible. I was thinking if I could create a formula that was something like:

IF a cell in a specific row in Column A has a Cell Link, THEN display a symbol in the same row in a cell in Column B.

I just don't know if there is any way to evaluate if a cell link exists in a cell and then how to use that in a formula.

There is no way to do this directly in Smartsheet. I am unsure if this could be accomplished by the API or possibly a 3rd party app. @Andrée Starå knows a lot more about the API and 3rd party apps than I do.
