Can a row of data in one sheet be automatically copied to another sheet based on data in one cell.

Looking for help with the following scenario. Have two project sheets. One is for projects under development. The other sheet is awarded projects. There are some matching columns between the two sheets, but not all. Would like to have all data in matching project columns in one row be automatically copied over to the awarded projects sheets when the project status column changes to award on the project development sheet. The additional new columns of data in the awarded projects sheet would then be filled in manually to complete the project data in the row.

Is this possible using formulas or any other tools? All assistance is appreciated.

    Hi Delilah,

You can use "copy to a new sheet" automations to accomplish this. https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2479626-automatically-move-or-copy-rows-between-sheets

The extra columns that get copied can just be hidden on the new sheet. All of the matching columns should have identical column names to ensure the copy goes as planned.

    Hi @Delilah

I hope you're well and safe!

To add to Holly's excellent advice/answer.

Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

    • You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
    • Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.

Would any of those options work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe and have a fantastic week!
