Usability Problems on Big Sheet
HELLO
I HAVE AN USABILITY PROBLEM
CURRENTLY OUR MAIN SHEET (ADMIN_2021) IS ONLY USING 41% OF CAPACITY, ACCORDING TO THE REPORTS OF EACH SHEET. INFACT WE HAVE 204.000 ACTIVE CELLS TO DATE (CURRENTLY USING 51 COLUMNS AND 4000 ROWS )
I AM THE OWNER OF THE SHEET, WITH A TOTAL OF 3 ADMINISTRATORS, 4 EDITORS, AND 2 OBSERVERS. USUALLY THERE ARE 7 USERS ON LINE USING THE SHEETS.
SINCE ABOUT A WEEK AGO WE HAVE HAD SERIOUS USABILITY ISSUES, WHICH HAS MADE WORKING WITH THE SHEETS VERY SLOW AND TEDIOUS. WE STILL HAVE 3 MONTHS LEFT TO THE END OF THE YEAR WITH THIS SHEET.
WE USE THE SHEET ¨PER YEAR¨ FOR WHICH WE PROJECT A USE OF ABOUT 70% OFTHIS RESOURCE.
THE MAIN PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE ¨SAVE AND SYNC¨ RESPONSE WHEN UPDATING WHICH LOOPS REPEATEDLY A DISPLAYS WITH NOTIFICATION "10 minutes have passed since you last saved changes.". SOMETIMES IT¨S RELEASED
ANOTHER ANNOYING CHANGE IS WHEN SAVING, DESPITE NOT HAVING EFFECTED ANY MODIFICTIONS, IT NOW DISPLAYS REQUEST TO SAVE AND UPDATE. THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING BEFORE, EVEN WHEN ANOTHER USER MADE MODIFICATIONS, IT WOULD ONLY BE REQUIRED TO UPDATE.
I HAVE BEEN CHECKING THE SERVICE STATUS PAGE, AND ALTHOUGH EVERYTHING APPEARS OPERATIONAL WE CONTINUE HAVING THESE USABILITY ISSUES.

Formulas, cell links/cross sheet references, automations, and conditional formatting all also play a role in sheet speed.

Paul Newcome, thanks for your response, Indeed, the sheet in question has everything you indicate, but ... what are the limits? of links, automations, information crossing between sheets, reports, etc. I am not clear about it.

There are limits to links/cross sheet references, but really it may not be so much that you are approaching any one limit but that you are using a lot of combined resources.
My suggestion would be to first see if you can get rid of or combine any conditional formatting and automations and see if you can simplify formulas or look for redundancies that could potentially be removed.

Have you also made sure that you're using the most efficient formula structure, like @row, @cell, and column formulas?

Indeed, I have many cross-leaf references, automations, panels, etc.
But as I see that I have not yet reached 43% of use, it seems strange that it becomes so tedious and annoying.

I have to tell you that I made the claim directly to Smartsheet customer service the same day I posted this case. And after about 24 hours everything flows again as before.
They have not answered me anything formally, but these days he has behaved as he should be. I would love for you to send me an explanation of what was happening and how they solved it.
If you answer me, I promise to share with you in this thread.
