Document Builder

Hello,

I have a cell in Smartsheet that has multiple paragraphs worth of text but I can't seem to line up the paragraphs by pressing "ALT ENTER". It will create a space between the paragraphs in the cell in Smartsheet but it shows up as one big paragraph in PDF.

What I want

Paragraph 1

(Enter Space)

Paragraph 2

What the PDF is generating

Paragraph 1. Paragraph 2

  • Hi @Miles Allison

Currently rich text is not supported when filling the PDF fields through Document Builder; the text will come through on the same line without being able to identify that there's a line break between the paragraphs (as you've found).

Please let the Product team know about your feedback and enhancement suggestion by filling in this form, here!

    Thank you,

    Genevieve

  • hello!! @Miles Allison @Genevieve P.

I’ve been struggling with the same issue mentioned here. However, i have been able to separate paragraphs in the past but not anymore. Its weird. Were you able to find a solution? Thanks!!

    Hi @Rosmar,

Having tested this on my end, I found that my PDF was generated with the paragraphs displayed separately (whether or not the text was wrapped within the cell in the sheet). However, I found that this was the case for some fields and not others within my PDF - other fields were unable to display all text and cut it off.

It therefore seems likely that the PDF fields you’re seeing this issue with are not set up as multi-line fields - take a look at the Adobe documentation here for information on how to set up a PDF field as multi-line.

    Hope that helps!

    Georgie
