Digitally Stamping an Attachment

I am looking to see if anyone has come up with a creative way to digitally stamp an attachment without having to download, open, stamp, save, and upload said attachment.

We have an approval process that goes through multiple steps and the final step is a stamp. This is a timely process and I am looking for suggestions that folks might be using.

The stamp has to have a red box around it and has customized verbiage with each attachment. I tried with proofs but there are not enough annotation tools.

Are your attachments pdfs? If so this is pretty easy with the api. Just poll the sheet on a regular basis with

using the call https://api.smartsheet.com/2.0/sheets/$Sheet_ID?include=attachments

Then walk through each row looking for whatever field value indicates the process is done. You can pull down the attachment for that row, add the stamp and then upload a new version.

Forgot this: tools like PDFtk let you create cusom stamps.
