Is there a way to paste into a sheet with hierarchy applied?

I have a scenario where we have an Excel sheet that has rows of data that we want to apply the row hierarchy to based on the indentations, but I'm not sure how to accomplish that by pasting into Smartsheet and not having to manually indent the data. Depending on what will work, we could create a Macro to format the Excel data how needed for the copy/paste to take the parent/child structure that we're looking for.
Think of it like this:
0 - Top Level Item
1 - Sub-Assembly 1
1.1 - Piece Part A
1.2 - Piece Part B
2 - Sub-Assembly 2
2.1 - Piece Part C
2.2 - Piece Part D
My examples are closer to 100 lines and may indent to additional levels and it's not always 1 or 2 children, it's a mix depending on the top level.
Not sure what options exist, but hoping there is a way to make it pretty automated, otherwise we'll need to go another route for a solution.

I manually setup my data in Smartsheet and exported it to Excel. It came out Grouped, so I tried to Group the data in Excel and copy/paste it into Smartsheet, but the indenting from the Groups does not transfer over. Too easy of a solution, right? Thought it was right in front of my face.

No, there currently is no way to automate Hierarchy, it is a fully manual process. If you have a moment, you can provide your feedback to the Product team through this form, here.
Thank you!
