Automatic timestamps

Hi! Is there a way to automatically get timestamps of when incoming and outgoing messages go out from a Smartsheet? We are using Smartsheet as a communications platform for clients and would like to track response time but I don't see a way to efficiently do this because the timestamp is currently a manual process. Thank you!

Thank you for the prompt response, Andree! I will need to work through this but does your definition of "other value" mean time? Date is already stored, it's the timestamp that I am specifically looking for that's currently missing.

My method can take the Created Date or similar system column and store/lock the date and time.
