Alert Email automation is recording the wrong person's email

Hello,

Whenever someone changes a field in a smartsheet, I have automation set up so that person A gets an email regarding the update. Person A gets an email saying "Person B has made up update" when person B has made a change, however for one specific user, person A gets an email saying "Person C has made an update", when it was person B who made that change.

It is important to know who made that change in case of a mistake or error, is there a way to fix this?

    Hi @crischadikun

Is Person C the owner of the sheet?

In most cases, the name you’ll see in the message will be the name of the person who triggered the change. In all other cases, the name used is the name of the person who owns the sheet. (See: Overview of Automated Notifications Sent via Smartsheet)

The sheet owner will appear as the sender name when the notification email delivers:

    • An alert triggered by multiple users’ changes in your sheet
    • A reminder (a time-based alert)
    • An update request
    • An approval request

If this isn't the cause, then it would be good to know more about how this workflow is set up (are you using placeholders?). Screen captures would help, but please block out sensitive data.

    Cheers,

    Genevieve
