How do I extract the time from system generated date columns?

I'm using the RIGHT function to extract the time from the Created Date system generated column and then using that information in separate calculations. Any other alternative that someone have used? This way helps me but I'm noticing that anytime that I add new information into the grid the time in this column changes to a different one that is not the original time and needs a refresh or save to correct it.
