Why does Smartsheet not allow multiple duration columns?

Use Case: Want to log current duration and optimal duration of a task. Want to represent conveniently and have easy roll up.

Current situation: Have write formulas and use number column. Sub par experience compared to duration column.

You're correct; if you need more duration columns in Smartsheet you can create these by using formulas, as you've noted.
