Update Request-View only

I need the ability to add columns to an update request to the person receiving the request knows the detail behind the request, but only want them to be able to edit specific columns. Is there a way to make columns view only in an update request? I tried locking the columns and that did not work-you can still edit all.

I don't know if this would work for you, but something that we've done is to include the column data that we don't want edited in the message that is sent with the update request and then only include the columns that need updated in the actual form they fill out. Does that make sense?

To add to Chloe's excellent advice/answer.

You can use the Placeholder feature to include information from the row in the message.
Also, if they are shared as an Editor or lower and the column(s) are locked, they won't be able to edit it.
