Automatic numbering for Work Breakdown Structure

Does anyone have a formula so a WBS will automatically number up to five levels? This doesn't seem like a standard feature in Smartsheet but is critical to our projects.

Great solution!

I have one issue - When deleting tasks, the WBS column remains populated. Is there a way to add to the formula(s) so that the now redundant WBS will be deleted?

This is very helpful and I would like to use it for my projects, but I need a little assistance. I am not sure if this same setup can be used when the project tasks don't start on the first row. For example, I my tasks begin on row 28, but I also indent the first task in order to be able to track up the overall project health and completed %. Any advice on how I can make a modification to this trick to have the first task on line 28 begin with 1, and so on?

Any help would be appreciated, i've tried to figure this out, but it's a little too complicated for my skillset.

This is great template to create WBS. I used the template and noticed something is incorrect. From the below screenshot uptill GREEN is all good. if you see the RED part it seems incorrect.
The WBS should be:
1.1.3
1.1.3.1
1.1.3.2
1.1.3.3 and similarly for 1.2 series it should be

1.2.
1.2.1
1.2.2
and so on. Kindly assist if there is something I am missing
