Creating a formula to assign unique Row IDs
Hello, I am trying to use a formula to assign a unique Row ID to each parent row on a smartsheet. I would like to set it up as a column formula so that it creates the unique number every time I start a new row. I used the following formula as my base:
=IF(COUNT(PARENT([Primary Column]@row)) = 0, COUNTIFS([Number Column Name]$1:[Number Column Name]1, ISNUMBER(@cell)) + 1)
I can't seem to get the sheet to allow this as a column formula. I had it working in another sheet, but accidentally deleted the formula without saving it and have lost the changes I made to it which had it working. Can anyone make a recommendation? Thanks!

Hi @rgalasso
I hope you're well and safe!
You can't use a direct cell reference in a Column Formula. That's why it's not working.
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!
