countif with OR function

Hi,

I'm trying to get a count of the following : Status is not started and finish is today OR status is not started and start is in the past. I'm having extreme difficulty trying to add this criteria. I would appreciate any help provided. Thank you in advance.

Much easier with a helper. Use a conditional statement in a helper column that outputs a 1 if the criteria is met, then use a count or sum on the helper column.
