Auto-Number/System for Child Rows Only

Is there a way to have an Auto-Number/System column only auto-increment in child rows, while avoiding auto incrementing of parent rows?

In Column number 32 put this formula. =Count(Parent())

In Column33 on row two Put this formula =sum($[Column32]$1:[Column32)@row)

In column34 put this formula =IF([Column32]@row = 0, "", [Column33]@row)
