Dropdown Selection Based on Previous Column Input

Hi there! I want to create two columns with the following features:

Column #2: single select 3-choice dropdown (e.g., cat, dog, bird)

Column #3: single select dropdown, but with three distinct dropdown menus, only one of which is available and is determined by what the user selects in column #2 (e.g., one menu corresponding to "cat", one to "dog", and another to "bird")

Does anyone have experience creating something like this, and/or is this a function that Smartsheet can currently support, maybe through an "if/then" statement?

Drop-down column choices cannot be updated with a formula. You can do exactly what you're wanting to do with the premium app Data Shuttle. Do you have Data Shuttle? If so, I can show you how to set that up.

To add to Matt's excellent advice/answer.

Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

Depending on how many options you have, you could use a Form and the Form Logic feature.
Also, depending on how many options you have, you could use conditional formatting and multiple helper columns for different options in the sheet.
As Matt mentioned, Data Shuttle. I recently developed a solution for a client where a Master Dropdown List is kept updated using it, and then, in turn, it updates all the sheets that use them.

Would any of those options work/help?
