Hello,

I would like to create automation, when someone from my team is adding anything new to the smartsheet, I would like to automatically assign such person to the row. I can not see such option in automation. Is it even possible?

You could just have the cell reference the Modified By column so that when someone makes a change it immediately sets that person as "Responsible"

That would not totally work because the action of assigning people does not allow to assign a contact stored in a cell, it only allows to assign fixed values. You would have to create a condition path for each person that could be assigned, with the condition of assigning them if their name is int the Modified By column. This is feasible if you only have to manage a small amount of people, but it could probably be improved if Smartsheet allow to select a column when you are going to assign someone.
