How does "in the next x days" calculate days?

I am working on a schedule for multiple employees and I would like for the different dates to be highlighted. How does the "in the next xx days" function work? My conditional formating is recognizing today (6/27) & 6/28 as both being in the next 1 days. Thanks for your help!

Think of today as zero. Within the next 5 days is 0-5 days. Within the next 1 day is days 0-1.
