create a chart on a dashboard

I'm trying to learn how to create a chart on a dashboard, but Smartsheet won't import the data from the source sheet. It keeps saying selected data cannot be charted. One of the things I want to see is the average time between the creation and resolution of an issue by person. In other words, if I have four issues assigned to me, what's the average number of days to get it resolved? Is this possible?

Do you have more context to this issue? You may need to add another column to your sheet and use the sum "average" but without seeing its a bit hard to give assistance.
