BUG: SmartSheet doesn't paste a HyperLink into a column properly - only pastes full URL

Hi,

I am trying to pass the following Hyper-link from Jira into a SmartLink column:

On the JIra issue page the Hyper Link looks like this

So the Text / Label for this Hyper link is 'BOB-1720' and the URL is

https://constoso.atlassian.net/browse/BOB-1720

However when select this 'BOB-1720' on the Jira page and then I paste it into the SmartLink column it pastes the Link as the text i.e. pastes the link ONLY

What it should be is :

Is this a BUG ?

I hope you're well and safe!

Unfortunately, it's not a bug, so you must manually add the Display text.

I think it's this way because Smartsheet can't know what should be displayed from the URL.

@Andrée Starå My understanding is that you are incorrect i.e. the definition of a hyper link is essentially a text label with a link behind it.

e.g.

<a href="https://www.w3.org/">W3C organization website</a>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperlink

I have confirmed that the Jira page I'm pasting from has that structure

No, it's not. When you add the URL www.workbold.com, it doesn't include that information.

Your example shows how it would be coded in HTML, including the text label part.

Make sense?
