Adding Teams user data to a Form

Hello,

I'm wondering if anybody knows if there is a way to pull in somebody's Teams user data into a smartsheet form. I have a Form that is published in Microsoft Teams and has a couple of drop down boxes for people to use. One to identify themselves, and another to identify another employee. I'm trying to create a way so that either the Form identifies them based on their Teams data so they don't need to use the drop down to identify themselves, or at least make so that when they submit the form, their Teams user data will also appear in the row. is that possible?

    Hey @Brian Lambert

Where does the Form submit it's data? To a sharepoint list? To a sharepoint excel file?

Smartsheet's Datashuttle (if you have that premier app available with your smartsheet subscription) can transfer data from excel to smartsheet. I have a few processes where I use Power Automate to copy data from a sharepoint list to an excel file, then use DataShuttle as listed above. Would that work for you?

  • Once you click on the Submit button on the form, the data then gets stored in smartsheet. I'm not sure your solution would work since I'm trying to capture what I think is Microsoft Team metadata.

I'm not sure either. I do have one routine where I update smartsheet when existing sharepoint list data changes on smartsheet- not just when new data is created (which it also does). It's somehow keeping track of the data. So it might work? For me this particular routine was not a slap it together in 15min and it work first time (I'm not an expert in this so most of it was operator error). It does work completely hands free now.

  • Hi @Brian Lambert

There may be a third party application, such as Zapier, that can create your connection. I hope that helps!
