Exporting a sheet and its attachments
Hi
Is it possible to export a sheet and the attachments corresponding to each row (i.e in a format similar to smartsheet's)?

Hi @User251
I hope you're well and safe!
You can export it, but the attachments will be in one directory together.
Would that work?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Thanks @Andrée Starå . The only download I get when I export the sheet to excel is the sheet. Do you mean that I should download the attachments in a separate step?

Happy to help!
You'd need to use the Request Backup feature instead.
If you right-click on a sheet or Workspace, you can request it and include attachments.
Would that work?

This feature has been requested on many, many threads since as far back as 2017.
The ability to download a sheet, and reference each attachment to its respective row, seems pretty basic, though there's been no progress to make it happen.
The backup function saves the sheet and just dumps all the attachments in a single directory - there are no references to the row the attachment belongs to other than reconciling it manually, for example by renaming each filename with a prefix including the row number it belongs to. This would be pretty tedious for anything beyond a smartsheet with five or ten attachments.
Sure hope smartsheets has this somewhere in the workstack.

Hello, following up on this thread... Any updates?
-
I can't get the request back up to work by right clicking
-
Hi all - any progress here - i have a sheet with 8,500 lines and 72,000 attachments - looking to download and keep the link of attachment to the Rows as reference
-
Checking in again to see whether there is an update on this front. Our organization has invested a lot of time in developing Smartsheet tools that might not be adequate replacements for existing methods if there is no simple, automatic way to reconcile attachments with their relevant data on export.
-
Any Update on this? I am trying to build a tool with business users and this is the #1 question - Data Extraction.
-
I would also like an update. This is critical to my needs with Smartsheet.
-
This is actually the most basic functionality that is not available - it makes "smart" sheet unusable.
-
I need it too. SS is too lazy on implementing features that can be done overnight.
-
Hi, I also urgently need the function, that exported attachments do have a reference to the line items in Smartsheet. Please add this function
-
i too am looking for this functionality..any update?
