Generate documents from parent and children rows
Is it possible to generate one document from multiple rows?
Best example I can think of would be an itemized order with multiple items in the order - how can you list all order items from that parent row (order number) with the item ordered [qty, price, detail information] on the children rows? Having columns to fill on the same row not feasible as we frequently have more than 80 separate items to list with qty, price and other details and would max out the sheet without listing all the orders in process.
It would need to expand to multiple pages as needed (2 or 3 common) but still be only 1 page on a frequent basis.

Hi @ZennerJ
I hope you're well and safe!
Unfortunately, it's not possible now, but it's an excellent idea!
Possible workarounds
- 3rd-party service
- Smartsheet API
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

@ZennerJ Hi! The only way to do this natively in Smartsheet with document builder would to have a field on the parent row that would collect all the child information you needed and format it with line breaks. So, in your document you'd have to have a large field that could display a block of information such as:
Item 1 - qty 100
Item 2 - qty 52
Item 3 - qty 10
....
Now that wouldn't work if it needed to span multiple pages though or if you wanted it in a tabular format with grid lines. The only way to do that would be to use a something like Appsheet that could generate reports in that format... That actually sounds like a good idea for a video. I'll have to look into making a video on doing that as I think it would be a good Appsheet/Smartsheet integration use case. Or, a custom API script written that would generate the reports in the format you need.
@Andrée Starå You must have been replying at the same time as I was. Sorry for some duplication.
