How to construct an IF statement forumla for a symbol column?

I have created a list of project milestones and would like the symbol column to auto-populate depending on the values in the "Start Date", "End Date", and "Status" columns. I am not certain if the status and requirements (listed below) for each are flawed or if it simply a formula issue.

Fields:

Red = "Past Due/Issue" - End Date occurs past today's date

Yellow = "In Progress" - End Date is in the future

Green = "Complete"

Blue = "Not started" - Only applies if Start Date is in the future

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Try something like this:

=IF(Status@row = "Complete", "Green", IF([Start Date]@row > TODAY(), "Blue", IF([End Date]@row < TODAY(), "Red", "Yellow")))
