Edit column width in dashboard widet

hi can someone please help me? i want to eidt the width on a column in the dashboard widet but cant seem to be able to do it. I'm sure its something simple!! see attached. in this example i want to widen the description column

You'll have to open the Report/Sheet and change it there, and then it will show in the Dashboard.

that doesn't do what i want it to.

my flow was

go to dashboard

select widget to edit (table)

attempt to resize the column. this will not allow me to.

i can adjust the overall table size but not the individual columns

any suggestions?

Aha! You want to have different sizes on the cell level.

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment, but it's an excellent idea!

thanks for responding!!! what determines the column size do you know? (smartsheet 1)?

also what determines which columns are shown? in the main report i have way more (smartsheet 2)

Happy to help!

The size is automatic, but you can change it in the report and hide/unhide/move columns around, showings what you need in the Dashboard.

You'd have to open the Report and drag the borders of the columns or double-click on it if you want it to adjust to the column name.

are u talking about the report itself or the widget? i can adjust the report columns but not the widget columns.

how do i select which columns go into the widget report form the actual report?

You're more than welcome!

Yes, you'd select what should be shown and how in the report. There isn't a way to do it through the widget.

Sometimes you'll have to play around with it to get the columns to show in the best way.

yes it does. thanks. im working off an old report which shows a selection of columns not all of them in the actual report. no idea how to select which columns i want to show as i dont want to show all, nor do i want to set up a separate report just for the dashboard widget as i'll have to link the two.

You can move the columns or/and right-click on the column name to hide columns.
