Keeping rows updated once they are copied to another sheet.

Hello,
I would like the rows I have copied into another sheet to be updated in real time or with a trigger or rule, without having to build an index/match cross sheet reference.
Here's a scenario for the context.
As Project Manager: I like to track multiple accounts in my sheets with multiple locations (every account/location being a row) for my personal timeline of things.
Management: builds a Master folder per account with one sheet, that contains multiple locations of that account.
So my PM rows end up in different Master folders so Management can track and do their own thing. I need a way to update thoses rows without creating new rows.
Simple Solution?
Thank you
Guy

Hey Guy - I got excited when I saw your post bc I have the same issue and haven't figured out a simple solution. My challenge is I have my master request sheet and copy over requests to other Departments. When those departments update the 'copied' row, it doesn't update my master sheet. I tried cell linking when they are copied but that's tedious. Now I have about 40 requests which are duplicated and not updated. Urgh!!!

Have you looked into creating a report instead?

Yes I have but the report cannot be modified on the management side if needed.

Management would continue to use their individual master sheets as they have been. You would have a report that pulls in from each of the sheets. If they need to make an update somewhere, they would make the update in the appropriate sheet the same way they always have.

What about the changes I make in my sheet? How do I push that to their row/sheet it comes from?

If you are working in a report, any changes you make will automatically push through to the appropriate sheet/row. Reports are an editable two way link.

I’m having the same issue. A report isn’t the solution because I need many additional, potentially changing columns that the source sheets don’t have and that would be very tedious to create and hide in all the source sheets, especially if the titles of the additional columns that I need keep changing.
