Whats wrong with this formula?

I'm using this in a metric sheet to count the term in a sheet that has multiple entries per row from a drop down list. It currently produces the error message #INVALID OPERATION.

=COUNTIF({PH Roadmap Intake sheet Range 1}, CONTAINS([Primary Column]@row))

I was attempting to copy the one @Paul Newcome provided on 9/8/21 but somethign obviously (not to me) not correct.

=COUNTIF({PH Roadmap Intake sheet Range 1}, CONTAINS([Primary Column]@row,@cell)

=COUNTIF({PH Roadmap Intake sheet Range 1}, CONTAINS([Primary Column]@row, @cell))

Thanks @Paul Newcome . Can I check what the 'range' =. EG is it the same ref as the first part of something else?

@Phil Wightman The "range" in the CONTAINS function is going to be "@cell". The @cell reference basically tells the formula to take the previously established range and evaluate it on a cell by cell basis.

So your formula is basically saying:

Count how many times each cell in the {PH Roadmap Intake sheet Range 1} range contains [Primary Column]@row.
