Move data from one sheet to another. Do column headers have to match?

We are importing data from another tool into smartsheet. I want to keep that sheet as the "original" and then move that data automatically to another sheet that we have been using for a year+.

A few questions. To do this it appears the column headers have to be exact. Example.

Sheet 1: Sales Rep

Sheet 2: Sales-Rep

If I moved data from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2 when it was entered It would enter a new column called Sales Rep because it did not match up 1-1.

Is that the only way to move the data is to have the names exact?

    Hi @Bryan Long

I hope you're well and safe!

They need to match, but fortunately, there are other ways.

    • You could use the premium app Data Shuttle.
    • We could develop a so-called import solution, so the column name doesn't have to match.

    Is that an option?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic weekend!

  • @Bryan Long I agree with @Andrée Starå! Typically the headers would need to match unless you were using a tool like Data Shuttle for import (which is better for situations where you need recurring imports into a sheet).
